The guys from Rowenta came to install the kitchen cabinets today. I have to say that I’m really impressed by their professionalism. Every time they assemble the modular cabinets, they would measure to make sure the cabinets are aligned properly, etc… H3ck, I don’t think I have seen that with my other contractor as well as even the developer’s contractor.

Speaking of the developer’s contractor… I can only say that I’ve really given up on them. So much for being the number 1 developer for the past few years — yes, we’re talking about SP Setia. They can actually mess up on small little things that I just don’t know if I should laugh or cry.

For example… When they handed the keys to us, they provided us with stack of documentations — floor plans, piping plans, electrical plans, tile codes and even paint codes and brand. So, you’d think that if they have the paint codes, they can’t really mess up, right? Wrong…

Irregular paint
There are actually two tones when it is supposed to be just ONE colour

Neighbour’s wall also has got two tones

If you think that’s bas enough… Take a look at what they had done with one of my complaints… Presenting… The number one developer who can’t even paint properly! :)

Shoddy paint job by SP Setia
They use a different paint and they don’t scrape away the chipped paint!

I had lodged a complaint to SP Setia a few weeks back about the paint on my gate — they were peeling off… And how do they rectify it? They just paint over the cracked area… With a different colour!

Want to see another ‘scary’ work by the developer?
Uneven kitchen ceiling

I’m really speechless when the Rowenta guys asked me to take a look at my kitchen ceiling. They assured me (and yes, I’m convinced by them) that their cabinet is not the culprit. Still, the Rowenta guys took the effort to try and cover the defect as nicely as they could… They could have just left big gaping holes and seal it up with silicone. But they didn’t. Instead, they actually cut out the wood according to my ceiling contour!

OK, OK… Enough rambling. I think many residents have also given up on them… I’ve heard many complaints in the residents’ forum.

Back to the professionals from Rowenta. Once again, I have to say again that I’m very impressed by their work. And its not only me. Even Mrs Tai was also very impressed. She also agreed with me that between the three contractors we have to do our house, Rowenta is definitely a class on its own.

If you’re curious as to how our kitchen cabinets look like…

  1. i gave up on sp setia also
watever it is, i try to do it myself liao… but i also realise my porch roof is leaking… dread having to file defects actually, too troublesome…

and rowenta ppl is right… it’s not their cabinet… because my grille and my cabinet ppl also complaining about the walls not being straight… very sien!!!!!

    when u moving in?

  2. SP Setia no longer number 1 developer. I think for 2008 it was won by Mah Sing right? I do think that I too bought the wrong house in a township which currently still prone to flood from the post I read in SARA forum. Anyway all the best to me next year when my home is ready in SA =(

  3. not sure about the 2008 awards, really… but for the flood… no lar… got meh? i won’t say SA is flood-prone. if anything, KL floods more often than SA. Even Subang Jaya is not spared — recently flooded as well.

dun worry too much. if i worried that much, i doubt i would have spent so much time and effort and would have just sold off that place.

  4. I am also looking forward for my new home in SA with positive mind =) Reading some of the post in SARA really brings in negative feelings towards SA =) Anyway… recalling your introduction of this lighting shop in Uptown, the lights are really cheap! I mean comparing with other lighting shop around PJ area. Thank you for that information, at least I can purchase lighting that is near to my current home.

  5. mind to tell us how much the kitchen cabinet cost?

  6. klix… about rm7k.

ryan, managed to get any nice lights from that shop? :)

  7. Haiya … Malaysian developers are a pain! They can never handover property without major defects.

I bought an apartment and also a 2-storey terrace house. Both are filled with defects, not just small ones like major ones – the ‘bocor’, the ceiling ‘senget’, the poor wiring, bad paint job and so forth.

Pening you know having to ask them to rectify it and even after the defects liability period, also can find defects some more …! :(

Nice kitchen by the way! I found your site whilst trying to find ideas for my new kitchen…

  8. the kitchen cabinets that we have at home would easily catch molds during humid times “

  9. wooden kitchen cabinets are perfect your your home, they look good and can be cleaned easily .-”

  10. wooden kitchen cabinets are perfect your your home, they look good and can be cleaned easily ,::

  11. It is really good to see wooden cabinets at the kitchen. It is more advisable to used. Aside from its cheaper price, you can also customized it in your own way.

  12. Well i think they are only fooling around. Don’t tell me they didn’t fix the mistakes that they did. You know what if this happens to me i wont pay them at all.

  13. Cabinets are used to make our things organized and easy to find. This will also add design and beauty to our house.
