About two weeks back, I had to travel outstation for a business trip. It was at that time that I realised I’m actually very attached to Gabriel.

I felt ‘weird’ not having to send him and pick him up from the babysitter’s place. Bedtime was also different without Gabriel. Usually, this is the time when we would be playing and reading books together.

Mrs Tai told me that Gabriel also noticed I was ‘missing’. Every now and then, he would ask “Daddy go where?”

Mrs Tai also told me that sometimes, when the wind blows and it makes some noise, Gabriel would think I was hiding somewhere and start to call out “Daddy…”

I’m just glad I don’t have to travel so much these days…

A few days back, my sister-in-law (brother’s wife) gave us a pack of something exotic. It was a combination of dried crocodiles, monkeys and some other animals.

For the past few days, I have been thinking about how to cook them. After all, it would be my first time cooking them. Do I boil it? Do I put them into the soup? Cook it with sauce?

Come to think of it, it would also be the first time eating I am them. I guess it would be the same for Mrs Tai and Gabriel too. As such, I thought it would be better to just stick to the tried and tested method — boil them and have creamy tomato sauce go with it… The result was actually quite good. Gabriel and Mrs Tai seemed to enjoy it too.

Here’s a photo of the dish…

adriantai.com is not just undergoing cosmetic changes. I’m planning to give it more focus. Posts will be something closer to heart — vegetarianism, food, gadgets, being a father and making this world a better place (changes to myself).

There will still be the usual ramblings as well…

However, new posts will not be as frequent as it used to be. I think its safe to say that on average, I’ll just do maybe 1-2 posts per week. But I’ll try to make them quality posts… :)

I’m also working on putting up my old posts… Need to rework a few things first Also in the works… Tweaking this template. Don’t like the current line spacing…

…with the sound of music.

That was what I really wanted sing when this greeted me this morning.
Green hill outside my hotel room

I wonder how long more before all the greens are gone from Penang.

Anyway, if everything goes well, I should be on my way back home this afternoon.

Had an out of town dinner… Literally out of town — Penang.

I was there on a business trip and managed to try out this place called Breeks Cafe at Queensbay Mall. It was a hectic and tiring day. I wasn’t really in the mood for food but was feeling hungry. I was looking around for some place nice when I came across this Breeks Cafe.

To be honest, I can’t resist anything that has got mushroom and the Pasta Mushroom Cream Sauce listed on the signboard outside the outlet just grabbed my attention. Went in, sat down and waited for someone to take my order, which sadly, too a while. Somehow, no one really noticed my until I started waving my hands (almost frantically).

Ordered the pasta and some calamansi drink. I was expecting the calamansi drink to be something like the lime & sour plum juice, so I was kinda surprised that it turned out to be just some green cordial drink. Nothing to shout about.

About 15 minutes after I placed my order, my pasta came. I had to wait for a few minutes before I could dig in… Because no one had set up my table. No fork. No spoon.

Was the pasta worth the wait? Well… Yes.

Pasta mushroom cream sauce at Breeks Cafe

The mushroom cream sauce is thick… Really thick and creamy. Just the way I like it. I had expected it to be just some watered down cream of mushroom soup added with mushroom bits, so I was surprised when the pasta arrived and the sauce looked really yummy.

Pasta was cooked just nice. It was piping hot. What else can I say…? :)

Will I go back for another round? Well, if I’m ever in Penang, it’s an affirmative Yes!

Where I work at the moment, we get to watch this advertisement at least 4-5 times every day. It’s gotten to the point where we are sick of the ad and can somehow tune it out. Yes, we don’t really pay attention to it.

One day, a few of my colleagues decided to make things interesting. We started to make a game out of the ad. We started asking each other questions based on the ads like:

* at what time did Ramli score his first goal for ManU?
* who was in the gym cycling when Ramli ran around like a headless chicken?
* how many goals, in total, did Ramli score in the whole advertisement?
* how many As did his neighbour score?

See… Now it makes you want to watch and pay attention to the ad, right?

It was a slow weekend and I had some personal time for myself after breakfast. Gabriel and Mrs Tai were taking the morning nap. Decided to just cook up something tasty for myself…

With some curry powder, sugar, salt, onions, garlic and some sliced mushroom crisps, the result was…
Vegetarian sambal

Home made vegetarian sambal

Sambal. Yummy…

Today is the 11th of November 2011… Or 11-11-11.

It is a nice day to reboot this site.

There will be more changes along the way and that’s the best part of the journey. I’m in the process of making the old posts available again. I’m also working on making cosmetic changes to this new template as well. Enjoy…
