…each time I enter the building elevator and see:
Elevator reporting empty load

I took the day off from work as I had a lot of personal stuffs to attend to…

I went to apply for a new bank book as the old bank book was in my mum’s handbag when it got snatched a few weeks back.

Also went to collect Mocha’s license. He’s now officially a legal ‘resident’ of Shah Alam.

Then there’s the little things like collecting Zachary’s MyKid, grocery shopping, more banking, etc…

EPF to channel RM1.5bil to fund FT special housing scheme

KUALA LUMPUR: The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) will channel RM1.5bil to the Federal Territories Foundation as part of a special funding scheme to help eligible buyers purchase public housing units in the city.

Fomca: Don’t use EPF money for public housing loans
http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2012/2/2/nation/10613603&sec=nation

KUALA LUMPUR: The Government should not use Employees Provident Fund (EPF) savings to fund loans for the purchase of public housing projects, said Fomca.

Its secretary-general Muhammad Sha’ani Abdullah said such loans for the low-income group would not make money for EPF and the risk of payment default would be high.

“The funds must come directly from the Government and those who qualify should pay rental for their units and subsequently, have this converted to ownership,” he said.

EPF loan is to Govt, not individual house buyers
http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2012/2/8/nation/20120208132602&sec=nation

KUALA LUMPUR: The special scheme for the purchase of People’s Housing Programme-National Economic Action Council (PPR-MTEN) and Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) public housing does not involve the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) providing loans to individuals, the EPF said.

EPF deputy chief executive officer and investment chief Datuk Shahril Ridza Ridzuan said as such interested participants should apply directly to the Federal Territories and Urban Well-being Ministry and not to the EPF.

The thing is… Even trying to withdraw MY OWN MONEY FROM EPF is not easy… So why EPF so easily ‘giving’ out the money?

Well, one can argue that this move is to help those with problems owning even a low cost house… But to me… There are other ways, right? Government could just be the ‘guarantor’ and let those renting the low costs units covert the rental into payment after a number of years…

Heck, even the low cost housing scheme is another funny thing… A few years back, I recall the BIG news when it was exposed that there are many high income earners (from the local councils, etc) owning low costs houses which they are not eligible for…

Heck, one can see so many ‘for sale’ and ‘for rent’ banners at these newly handed over low costs houses. To me, that means something is definitely not right…

That is what I always tell everyone… We should never close any doors and we should always know what are our options. We should always keep our mind open to new ideas and concepts, thus opening ourselves to even more options.

But after speaking to a neighbour recently, I’m beginning to wonder… Did I actually close some doors and indirectly reduced my options? Have I been ignorant and naive that I’ve actually closed some doors without realising it?

But I’m just glad that talk opened my eyes — red pill or blue pill. :)

Gabriel, the keyboardist...

Last week, a good friend and neighbour mentioned that she would drop by in the afternoon to drop off some mints (the plant) she had planted for us. I was surprised to see the keyboard in the house when I came back that day. Mrs Tai told me the good friend brought more than just mints.

KP, thanks for the keyboard…

Yea… So looking forward to the long weekend. Awal Muharram & then Thaipusam.

It’s been a tiring few weeks. But we’re considered fully recovered from the bout of flu, cough, etc… Just looking forward to some quality time with the family.

Oh… There’s the Chap Goh Meh, too… Though it’s not a public holiday in Malaysia.

Those who know us would know my mum is considered really ‘unlucky’ — easily having been a victim of snatch theft more than 5 times in just the past few years. Yes, you can also say Malaysia isn’t very safe when compared to say… Singapore.

Anyway, yesterday morning, mum became a victim… Yet again. What pisses me off is that the ball-less, cowardly thieves pushed my mum into the drain while in the process of snatching her handbag. It happened in front of my parent’s house and I know the drains there have sharp edges. I’m just glad that she did not knock herself on the head. Otherwise, I’m very sure it would have been very serious.

As it is, my mum’s got a few cuts on her arms and she’s got body ache all over. I hope the thieves suffer in hell. Heck, I hope they suffer now as well… I just hope their fingers and toes all start to fall off one by one. I’d even be glad to help remove their fingers and toes from their hands and legs with a pair of pliers. And I hope everytime they breathe, it hurts like a thousand needles pricking their lungs.

Yes… I’m really pissed.

Hot air balloons

So many of the above… Minus the balloons.

bugdies /bəgdis/
Noun: Plural of bugdy; Combination of bug and buddies; Very good friends who enjoy bugging one another as a way of bonding.

My bugdies from the north and south dropped by my place for Chinese New Year. It is beginning to be an annual thing for us — meeting over the CNY. I wish we could meet more often, but as I said — one lives up in the north (state of Perak) and the other lives in Singapore. But this is as good as it can get for now… And I’m just glad we can still find the time to meet up.

The least I could do was torture feed them with home-made dishes. Just sharing the photos a bugdy took. Please bear with the blur photos… They were taken with an iPhone.

I was doing some last minute shopping at the Setia Alam pasar malam when I saw this guy selling this thing… Seems quite interesting and a real bargain since it’s only rm12.
Nice and cheap building block toys from pasar malam

Do ignore the horrendous spelling and grammar mistakes on the box…

This building set is actually quite good. I’m quite impressed. The box does not come with any ‘manual’ because according to the seller, everything is possible. It is about imagining things. Which is very true. I’m planning on getting another set so there’s even more combinations that can be done.

In case you’re wondering… Yes, I’m the one actually building up the set while Gabriel just watches… But I noticed he’s also trying to help. I guess it is just a matter of time before he figures out how the cogwheel works and starts making imagination into reality.

And ya… I know I’m feeding Gabriel’s obsession for wheels and tyres
