LG G6 [updated]
Update 2017-06-13: Eh, seems LG just made this phone more attractive — Price reduced by RM400
Had a chance to play with the LG G6 smartphone earlier today.
I have to say, it is very well designed. It feels good in the hands. I like that the fingerprint sensor is at the back. For a BIG phone, placing the fingerprint sensor at the back makes sense as it helps to reduce the bezels in the front, thus making phone easier to handle with one hand (if and when needed).
Camera seemed decent enough, though I have to say that the 10 minutes I got to play with the phone isn’t enough to really make any conclusion. But based on the reviews I have read, the G6 camera performs quite well.
The screen is also quite good. It’s bright and colourful. And it is not curved. Personally, I don’t like curved screens like the ones on Samsung S8. I don’t find them practical. Even though the curves on the S8 is not as bad as the ones on previous models (like S7 and even the Note 7), I still prefer flat screens.
But… Alas, at full flagship price but with last year’s processor (most phones this year would have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, but the G6 comes with the Snapdragon 821 processor instead), it makes the LG G6 less attractive.
Not to say that the Snapdragon 821 is bad but if one is going to be paying the same price (there about), then having a slightly “inferior” processor makes it less attractive. I guess one way to overcome this is the actually price the G6 very much lower than the current asking price.
Plus, there’s the phobia of bootloop which affected many earlier LG models.
Just glad that my Note 2 can still hold out… 🙂
