Good Samsung Galaxy Note 7 deal via Digi?
Samsung Malaysia kicked off a pre-order campaign for the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. Only 4000 units will be available for booking, starting from the 8th August 2016. Those who successfully pre-order will be entitled to a 10% discount. On top of that, they will also receive a wireless charger, a Samsung power bank and a travel adaptor.
And they will also be able to get their phone (s) one day before the official sales start in Malaysia, which is the 19th August 2016.
Some local telcos are also offering similar pre-order bundles. Here’s a summary of the bundles announced so far (and compiled by a LYN forumer):
Most of us would already have a data plan. If whatever is being offered (the Note 7 bundle) is about the same as what you are using now (in terms of price and plan itself), then I think it is worth considering the 24 month commitment.
The Digi deal seems quite good. It has got one of the lowest TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) over the 24 months — Sorry, I’m not a Celcom believer :). With a RM68 commitment over 24 months, the Note 7 can be had for RM2150. That’s about RM1000 off the RRP. And let’s not forget about the freebies.
In the past, I discouraged taking plans to get a phone because back then, these plans are usually very expensive.
But these days, the plans are quite affordable and there’s a good chance we’re already on one such plan anyway. So, it a matter of whether we can stick to that plan for the next 24 months.
I’ve moved from one telco to another a few times now and on the average, I stay for like 3-5 years before moving on. I think it’s the same for many.
So, what is 2 years… 😉
