IDEA: Water-proofing phone
…Well, not really water proofing but rather giving phones some water resistance.
Many phone manufacturers claim they cannot have water resistance feature on phones with removable batteries. I believe this is because removable batteries would mean having back casing that can be easily opened and closed, and that might cause water to enter the phone’s internals.
Here’s the thing — Look at car doors. We open and close them daily and no water seems to seep through.
Perhaps manufacturers are not trying hard enough?
I know the whole thing is more complex than what I have made it out to be.
For one, there is the warranty aspect. I guess perhaps manufacturers can put a disclaimer of some sort? Or maybe manufacturers don’t even need to advertise this feature. Just like how car manufacturers don’t advertise that their car is “water resistant”.
